For a variety of reasons, more people from Edmonton are choosing to go gluten free, and during an event that will be taking place this winter, those who participate will learn how to make this transition as easy as possible.

The Gluten Free Living 101 workshop, which will be held in Hope Lutheran Church, will cover a variety of topics related to living a gluten free lifestyle. The attendees will find ways they can adapt their favorite recipes so that they do not contain this common allergen, and also discover the assortment of choices available to them in today’s marketplace.

The facilitators of the day will also share tips for grocery shopping and how to read labels to make sure a selection has no gluten, along with hints for preventing cross contamination and also how to navigate a restaurant menu. Finally, there will be a discussion of how to socialize and travel while still maintaining a gluten free diet.

The session is being offered on a free of charge basis, and anyone who feels it will be helpful to them is welcome. Promotional pens, note pads and other items can be prepared by a printer to give out to those who participate in a workshop like this.

The Gluten Free 101 information session will be taking place on January 17, 2018. More information and a chance to register can be found by visiting the Edmonton chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association’s Facebook page.
