The 9th annual Vancouver Ukulele Festival is taking place next month over three days.

The festival will start off with a Friday night ukulele gala concert from 7:00 to 10:00 PM, which will feature some of the well-known ukulele players and teachers. Among those performing will be Abe Lagrimas Jr., Heidi Swedberg, and Ruby and Smith. Tickets are $20 in advance and $28 at the door.

The next two days will be filled with workshops taught by many of those who will be performing at the gala concert. There are 24 in all, and participants can take part in 8 of them for a fee of $279. The workshops are already sold out, but there is a waitlist available.

In addition to the workshops, the festival will feature jam sessions, open-mic performances, question and answer panels, and an ukulele merchandise store. Guests will be served free tea, coffee and snacks.

The event will likely attract ukulele fans from all over the area, including nearby Delta. Organizers may work with a marketing services company to help advertise the gala concert that will help to showcase the ukulele.

The Vancouver Ukulele Festival will be held at the Croatian Cultural Centre from April 27 to 29. For more information or to be placed on the waitlist for workshops, call 604-408-2290.
