Winnipeg fundraiser to focus on fair trade

September 5, 2018 by

A festive event is on the agenda for Winnipeg that will mark its first anniversary as one of the world’s free trade cities.

The celebration will serve as a fundraiser for Fair Trade Manitoba’s initiatives, and it will feature a variety of dishes made using ingredients that have been sourced from both the local area and the rest of the globe using the principles of fair trade. Tickets are $80 each, and donations will also be welcome.

The evening will open with an hour-long cocktail mixer, and after this, dinner will be served. While the diners enjoy their meal, they will have a chance to listen to remarks from Julie Francoeur, who spent several years in South America and the Caribbean lending a hand in communities to help them set up fair trade production of different types of produce. She will be sharing her insights and what she has learned through the course of her experiences.

The Millennium Centre will be the host for this special occasion, and it will begin at 6:00 pm. Local stationery printers can supply programs, table cards, printed menus, VIP invitations and various other items for an event like this.

The celebration will be held on Wednesday, October 3. Anyone who would like to find out more can contact fairtrade@mcic.ca for further details.
