Whitby invites one and all to Canada Day celebrations

May 30, 2018 by

Whitby will be wishing Canada a very happy birthday with a day full of special events and other fun.

Both Port Whitby Marina and Victoria Fields will serve as venues for the community’s Canada Day celebrations, and the events are being offered free of charge. These are open to people of any age, and a full schedule will be released as the day draws closer.

The plans for the festivities include an Arts Trail that will shine a spotlight on the works of local artisans and artists, a large Kids Zone, a Farmers’ Market with fresh produce, and a vendor area where community businesses and service providers will have displays set up for the public to browse through. Live entertainment will also be performing, and a variety of mobile food service providers will be on hand to feed the hungry crowd.

The occasion will be capped off with a giant fireworks show that will be held once the sky gets dark. A free bike valet service will be on offer, and there are several ways to access to site using public transport. Signage and other large sized printed items can be provided by area print shops to help keep this type of function well organized.

This day of fun in honour of the country’s birthday will be held on July 1. More details can be found on the Whitby website.
