Vaughan Earth Day activity to show how many hands can make a job easy

Vaughan will be marking Earth Day 2018 with an event that will show how even 20 minutes can make a difference when it comes to going green.

The city will once again be hosting its 20 Minute Makeover, which will see organizations, businesses, schools and individuals alike join together to clean up litter from public areas. It is a community wide effort, and last year, more than 17,000 people took part.

The organizers noted that participating in the event is easy. All that is needed is for people to, whether on their own or as a group, head outside to enjoy being active in the fresh air while they pick up litter. Anyone who plans on doing so is asked to register ahead of time, and the city will supply them with plastic gloves and trash bags free of charge. These can be obtained from community centres throughout the city, and can be picked up ahead of time.

The major sponsor for this day of environmental action is Glad. Poster printing can be used to create various promotional items to help make the public aware of when a project like this is taking place and how they can join in the activity.

The 20 Minute Makeover has been scheduled for April 13 at 2:00 pm. More information about the initiative can be found by visiting the City of Vaughan website.
