Upcoming festival to help warm up the winter

The Bring on the Sunshine Family Day Festival is returning to Kitchener this month for another year.

The festival ispresented by the African Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (ACAWRA), the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre and the City of Kitchener. A celebration of various African countries in honor of Black History Month, it will also recognize the context of life in Canada. Organizers are still seeking volunteers for this year’s festival.

Going by last year’s festival, there will be theatrical productions, musical performances, and dance demonstrations. There will also be spoken word performances and fashion shows, as well as number of workshops on topics such as painting and belly dancing.

No doubt there will be many people there who will be wearing their native costumes and will find time to explain them to guests. In addition, traditional foods will be available for purchase.

To help advertise events like this, organizers often contact Kitchener print shops for help. They may order marketing materials such as flyers and posters that can be inexpensively and quickly distributed in the community.

Admission to the festival will be through a donation. The Bring on the Sunshine Family Day Festival will be held at Kitchener City Hall on February 17 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. To become a volunteer, or for more information about this event, visit the official website.
