Upcoming Chilliwack workshop to provide an introduction to arthritis

March 13, 2017 by

The term ‘arthritis’ refers to a group of illnesses that can cause pain, joint swelling and other symptoms, and as part of a workshop being hosted by the Chilliwack Library, the Arthritis Society of B.C. will shed light on this group of conditions.

The facilitator for the afternoon will be providing information and answering questions about arthritis, including how an individual can engage in self-management practices, how families can support individuals coping with one of this family of diseases, effective pain management strategies, the importance of exercise, and complementary therapies. The goal is to equip the participants with knowledge that they can use to improve their quality of life and be as pain free as possible. Presentation folders can be filled with brochures and other informational materials and then distributed to each person who takes part in a session such as this.

The Understanding Arthritis workshop has been planned for the Chilliwack Library, which is located at 45860 First Avenue in Chilliwack, for April 10 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Preregistration is required for all participants, so anyone who is interested in attending is asked to call ahead first to ensure that space is available, and to assist the organizers in determining how many will be attending the event. Additional details and a registration link can be found on the library’s website.
