Unique convention returns to Richmond

July 30, 2014 by

The 2nd annual BronyCAN is taking place in Richmond over three days this August. It is a convention dedicated to My Little Pony.

The event is expected to feature many special guests, including voice actor Nicole Oliver, comic book artist Amy Mebberson, and Brent Hodges, directory of ‘A Brony Tale’.

In addition to meeting and listening to the specials guests, attendees can take part in panel discussions, a collectible cards game tournament, a cosplay contest, and an ice cream social. A special BronyCAN concert and dance is also planned, as is a VIP dinner. A vendor hall will feature collectibles, trading cards, and other My Little Pony-related items.

For children, there will be pony trivia, face painting, and a kids’ sing along, among other activities.

There is also set to be a charity auction that will raise funds for Everysafe Ranch. This is an organization that helps to provide food, clothing, furniture, and Christmas gifts to the needy.

Vendors, who will likely come from Richmond and surrounding areas, may decide to work with local printing companies to make their tables more attractive. This may involve investing in products such as posters and banners.

BronyCAN is being held at the Executive Airport Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre from August 22nd to 24th. Tickets range in price from $30 for one-day to $50 for a weekend pass; accompanied children aged 12 and under are admitted for free.
