Surrey’s RCMP to hold open house day

May 2, 2017 by

The RCMP is Canada’s national police force, and its main detachment in Surrey will be hosting an open house that will give participants an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at how they perform their duties.

The event is being held as part of Police Week. Members of the public, from youngsters to seniors, are invited to explore the detachment and discover the different jobs. Kids will have a chance to attend a special “briefing” just for them, and there will also be a display of police vehicles, a demonstration from the K-9 unit, and more.

Food will be served, and those who come out can learn more about forensics and integrated units and the jobs they do, have their picture taken with a Mountie in red serge, and find out more about a career with the force.

One of the goals of the day will be to form strong connections between the police and the community they serve. Brochures and other promotional products can be prepared for an event such as this by a local printing company.

The RCMP Open House has been planned for May 13 in the main RCMP detachment in Surrey from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, and preregistration is not required. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, and additional information can be found on the city’s website.
