Surrey residents invited to show their Canadian pride

Canada’s 150th birthday year has arrived, and one of the ways Surrey will be marking this festive occasion is with a creative expression contest.

The city is looking for people to submit written pieces, video, artwork or photos that demonstrate what being a citizen of Canada means to them. Those who wish to make a submission are encouraged to be as creative as possible, and each week, there will be a draw for an $150 Visa gift card. The grand prize winner will be invited to attend a VIP Meet and Greet, which will take place in Surrey on Canada Day. A printer’s graphic design team can be counted on to supply customized awards for the winners in a contest such as this

In an effort to help those who wish to enter the contest get started, the organizers have created a list of ideas that can serve as launching points for their own unique story. Entries can be submitted through email, Facebook and Instagram social media platforms, via mail and in person at the Surrey City Hall or the Surrey Museum.

The deadline to submit an entry has been set as June 11, and the contest is open to all BC residents. A complete listing of the rules, as well as links to enter a piece, have been made available on the City of Surrey website.
