Surrey event will explore firefighting as a career for women

June 21, 2018 by

Surrey women who are interested in firefighting may wish to save the date for a special event that will allow them to explore the career in depth.

The Surrey Fire Service has planned a daylong workshop which will help the women who take part decide if joining the fire service is a good fit for them. They will have an opportunity to learn more about the vocation from a variety of perspectives, and also inform them about the skills they will need to have to do the job.

Female members of the fire service will be available to answer questions from the attendees and share details about their career experiences. There will be time set aside for the group to test their physical skills and see if the meet the requirements that have been developed for members of the Surrey Fire Service. The participants are reminded to bring along fitness apparel to wear during this portion of the day.

The registration fee for the day is $30, and this price includes the lunch that will be served to the attendees. The event is open to women who are age 19 and over, and brochure printing can be used to create informational materials to distribute during a session such as this.

The fire service will be hosting the event on July 14 at 14923 64 Ave. Anyone who would like more information has been asked to visit the city’s website.
