Street festival welcomes summer to Waterloo

June 6, 2017 by

The Open Street Waterloo festival is set to take place on the third Thursday of every month from June until September.

Each week there will be a different theme and activities take place in five separate nodes. These are Laurel Trail, the Willow Tree, Waterloo City Centre, the Button Factory, and Waterloo Public Square. There will be live musical entertainment, art activities, and exhibits from local businesses and community groups.

The theme for June 18 is “Words.” Some of the planned activities include arts and crafts for kids, the bicycle powered smoothie machine and sound installations. There will also be an Artists’ Alley and The Golden Bus will be on hand to provide magnetic poetry fun and activities.

Upcoming themes are “Make Believe” on July 16, “Music” on August 20 and “Motion” on September 17. The aim of the festival is to promote livable cities and to encourage local families to participate actively in the community.

It is likely that some of the Waterloo businesses and community groups participating in the festival will be investing in sign and banner printing services to draw attention to their booths.

The Open Streets Festival will be held on the third Thursday of each month from June to September from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. For more information about planned activities, contact Josh Bean at 519-747-6125.
