St. Patrick’s parade looking for participants

February 5, 2019 by

The 12th annual Halifax St. Patrick’s Day Parade is open for registrations from nonprofit organizations and local businesses.

Presented by the Charitable Irish Society of Halifax, this popular parade attracts approximately 100,000 spectators each year and is a way for organizations to get their name out in the community.

The fees to enter are free for nonprofit organizations and sponsors of the parade, and $50 for corporate entries. Participants can choose to march along the parade route, take a vehicle, or provide their own float. Several awards will be handed out to parade participants: Best Irish Costume, Best Float, Best Group, Best Decorated Car and Best Band.

The day will start off with the raising of the Irish flag at 12:00 noon. The parade will start at Terminal Road, travel along Lower Water Street, continue through Irishtown and end up at Historic Properties. It is approximately two kilometers long and will take about half an hour to complete. There will also be an after-party held at the Lower Deck Waterfront.

Those who are planning to participate may decide to purchase products from Halifax banner printing companies to either carry or hang on their floats.

The parade will be held on March 10 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Participants will gather at Pier 20. For more information about taking part in the parade or becoming a sponsor, visit the official event website.
