St. Catharines event to celebrate inclusion

Residents of St. Catharines have been asked to include space in their calendars this summer for an event that will shine a light on inclusion in Niagara.

This year will see the first ever Meridian Smiles Run, Walk or Roll hit the grounds of Brock University. According to its organizers, the goal is to help encourage the public to look past a person’s disability and instead see all they are capable of doing.

Those who would like to participate in the day can choose between 5km, 3km and 1km races, and the kids can take part in a mini sprint that has been planned just for anyone five years of age and under. To help build the festive atmosphere of the occasion, there will also be entertainment on hand and food will be available. Once the races are over, there will be closing ceremonies to thank everyone for coming out, and there will be other runs on the agenda as well

The event will begin with registration at 9:00 am, and this will be followed by announcements before the crowd takes to the race routes. The registration fee is $25 each. A printing services provider can be called upon to supply T-shirts, banners, race bibs, and many other items for an occasion like this.

This celebration of inclusion will be held on July 15 at Brock University. More information can be obtained by contacting gmcsfitnesshomiesextrachromies@gmail.com.
