Regina gets ready for the Christmas season

November 28, 2015 by

The Light the Lights celebration is taking place on the first day of December at City Hall. It will be presented by Mayor Michael Fougere and Regina City Council.

This is always a popular event in Regina which offers something for everyone. It will begin with a short speech by Mayor Fougere and then he will turn on the lights and the bells of Knox Metropolitan Church tower will ring. There are set to be horse and wagon rides provided by Sanguine Clydes, ice sculpture demonstrations by Leo Pantel and a visit from Santa Claus. Costumed characters will also be on hand and visitors can post with the ice-frame selfie.

There will also be a coloring contest, hot chocolate and cookies and live entertainment. In past years, some of the performers have included the Gold Chorus, Sweet Adelines International and Royal Blend Vocal Jazz; not doubt some of the same acts will return.

Regina residents who are planning to attend are advised to dress warmly as everything takes place outside. Some area businesses may also decide to hand out promotional products to those who show up.

The Light the Lights celebration will be held in the City Hall Courtyard on December 1 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Admission and entertainment is free of charge. To find out more about this event, contact the City of Regina at 306-777-7000.
