Ottawa butterfly release to symbolize hope for the future

April 12, 2018 by

This spring, butterflies will take to the skies in Ottawa as part of a special event held in memory of loved ones.

Bereaved Families of Ottawa will be holding its annual butterfly release community memorial and fundraiser, and everyone is welcome. The day has planned to be peaceful and uplifting, and also to encourage happy memories.

The event will open in Beechwood National Memorial Centre’s Sacred Space, where the guests will have an opportunity to honour their loved ones. Live harp music will be played, and after this, the attendees will head outdoors.

Once everyone has reached the hill that overlooks the pond and garden, there will be a release of painted lady butterflies. This is done to symbolize transformation and hope. The day will conclude with a remembrance walk where the guests can share happy memories of their loved ones, and this will be followed by light refreshments.

Anyone who would like to release one of the butterflies is asked to register ahead of time. The proceeds from the occasion will be used to help fund the activities of Bereaved Families of Ottawa. A local printing services provider can supply any printed items needed for a function like this.

This annual event has been planned for May 27, and it will be held at 280 Beechwood Avenue. Its website includes additional details and a link to register for the occasion.
