Oakville YMCA to honour some of the community’s best

The Oakville YMCA will soon be recognizing some of its local heroes, and the public is welcome to join in the celebration.

During the organization’s annual Breakfast for Peace, it will be honouring local adults, youth, and groups who have been of service to their community by presenting them with a special medal. According to the organizers, the event will shine a light on the role that people like this play in the life of the area, and share how they have impacted the lives of others.

The individuals and groups that have been selected to receive this recognition were nominated by members of their community. Gabrielle Scrimshaw will be the keynote speaker for the day. Ms. Scrimshaw is the recipient of the 2013 First Nations Youth Achiever, which was presented to her by Indspire. The ticket price for the day will be $25 each, and group ticketing and sponsorship options are also available A local printer can lend a helping hand to an event like this by using graphic design to craft medals, award certificates, pop-up banners, and other decorations.

The breakfast will take place on November 23 and is scheduled to begin at 7:00 am. It will be held in the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre. More information can be found on the YMCA of Oakville’s website.
