Mississauga to host annual garden tour

Mississauga will be filled with blooms this spring, and horticultural lovers will be invited into some of the city’s gardens as part of its 13th Annual Spring Garden Tour.

The self-guided event, which is being held as a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society, will see 11 of the area’s properties open their garden gate, all in the community’s southwest side. Brochures that contain both a description of each of the stops on their tour, as well as their locations, will be given to each ticket holder before they set out, and tickets can be purchased right up until the day of the event.

To make the occasion even more special, students from Mentor College have agreed to perform in some of the gardens, and a Master Hardener will be on hand at one of the locations to answer questions. Those who are inspired by what they see will be able to purchase new additions for their beds at the plant sale, and the proceeds from the occasion will be used to help seek cure for cancer and provide support to those affected by it.

This year’s garden tour has been planned for May 27. Tickets can be purchased online or at different locations in the city. The event’s website includes further details, as well as information about acting as a volunteer for the day.
