London workshop to salute summer salads

June 9, 2018 by

In London, summer time is salad time, and a class has been planned for July that will share the secrets of how to craft dishes that make the most of the season’s bounty.

Jill’s Table will be the host for an event that will see those who take part craft four different salads that will each showcase freshly harvested produce and other locally sourced components. As a special addition, there will be an opportunity for the students to find out more about where they can purchase these ingredients for themselves right in their own area.

The salads that will be prepared during the session include grilled Korean beef noodle with kimchi; smoked trout with a lemon vinaigrette; asparagus, fennel and green bean with truffle vinaigrette and also potato Caesar with local organic bacon. The group will learn how to make all of these, and also how they can use the recipes to inspire their own creations.

The participants will also be paying a visit with Jill to the Convent Garden Farmers’ Market so that they can browse through the fresh produce on offer and meet the growers who make it possible to buy these ingredients right in the heart of the city. Recipes cards and other items for an event like this can be produced by area print shops.

This salute to summer salads has been planned for July 12 starting at 10:30 am. It will be held at 115 Kings Street.
