Literary festival returns to Calgary for another year

September 16, 2018 by

Wordfest is taking place in Calgary next month for eight days.

This popular festival is set to feature some of the most successful writers from all over the world, including Canada and the United States. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Coming to the 2018 Imaginarium’.

Events will be taking place at three separate venues: the Bella Concert Hall, Hotel Arts, and the DJD Dance Centre. There will be workshops, readings, musical entertainment, awards and many fun activities.

The first day will feature a Celebration of Calvin and Hobbes at Memorial Park. It will feature music from the Heebee-Jeebees, story time with Michael Hingston, and a drawing workshop. Activities will be taking place both outdoors and indoors.

Over the eight days, some of the authors who will be appearing to give readings or take part in discussions are Tim Cook, Dave Bidini, Elizabeth Hay, and Kurt Andersen. There will be 67 authors in all. Other activities will include the Governor General’s Literary Awards and a Literary Death Match.

To advertise events like this, Calgary print shops often supply printed materials such as flyers and posters.

Wordfest will be held in Calgary from October 8 to 15. Full passes cost $195 until October 3 and $225 after. For more information about the festival, visit the official event website.
