Lights on this Family Day weekend in Calgary

This winter, the Calgary Downtown Association (CDA) will be lighting up the winter sky with its very first ever Glow Downtown Winter Light Festival.

During the three nights of the event, the downtown core’s public spaces will be lit by uniquely designed lighting installations. These will include everything from commissioned pieces of interactive light art crafted by area artists, to projections and theatrical experiences. The creative talent for this festival will come from the local area, the rest of the country and around the world as well.

Throughout the festival, a series of hubs will be erected where the public can go and warm up while they enjoy refreshments and find out more about the different displays. The community’s hotels and businesses will also be involved, and will be linked to some of the sites through the city’s Plus 15 Skywalk. Maps of the lighting installment locations and other promotional items can be produced for an event like this by a print company.

The event, which has been designed to be family friendly, will run from February 17 to the 20, and is being offered free of charge to anyone who would like to enjoy the lights. It will be held in an assortment of locations throughout the downtown are, and a map of these venues and further details can be found on its website.
