Lethbridge set to recognize some of its local heroes

October 23, 2017 by

One thing for which Lethbridge is well known is the generosity of its people, and the city will soon be giving a salute to those who work to make the community a good place to call home.

The city will be hosting a National Philanthropy Day celebration that will recognize some of those who spend their time helping others. The occasion was first established in 1986, and Lethbridge will be joining others across the globe in marking the day. A luncheon has been planned, during which the speakers will be presenting an assortment of awards to the selected recipients.

The award winners for the day include the BMO Financial Group, which will be recognized as a corporate philanthropist and the Lethbridge Auto Dealers Association will be lauded for its group efforts. Cor Van Raay will be receiving an award as an individual philanthropist, while Teamwork Training and Select Recruiting, and the U of L World Univ. Service of Canada Students Club will also be the recipient of recognition. A company that crafts personalized corporate gifts will be able to both design and then produce plaques and other awards for this type of occasion.

The luncheon will be held on November 16 in Lethbridge Lodge. Ticket prices start at $45 each and the AFP Southern Alberta Chapter’s Facebook page includes more information about the event, as well as National Philanthropy Day itself.
