Kitchener event to help ensure everyone in the area has food on their table

Kitchener is a community that is well known for the generosity of the people who call it home, and the organizers of an upcoming event are hoping that they will continue to lend their support to those in need.

The Food Bank of Waterloo Region is holding a food drive to ensure its shelves are well filled. People are asked to gather their friends, families and co-workers to collect non-perishable food such as canned meat and vegetables, rice, dry beans, baby formula, peanut butter, and more. Cash donations will also be gratefully accepted, and according to those who have planned the food drive, a contribution of $20 will feed a family with four members for four days.

Anyone who lends the effort a helping hand can help spread the word by using the hashtag #SoNoOneGoesHungry or @FoodBankWatReg. Poster printing can be used to create promotional items for an event such as this.

As part of the Spring Food and Fund Drive, donation boxes will set up in fire halls and grocery stores throughout the area, and those who would like to make a cash donation can do so in person, online, or over the phone. The drive will run from March 27 until April 21, and additional details, as well as an opportunity to make a financial contribution, can be found on the food bank’s website or by calling 519-743-5576.
