Kitchener clothing swap planned

May 17, 2017 by

It’s spring cleanup time for many Kitchener families, and they will soon have a chance to trade their gently used clothing for other “new to you” items during the free clothes swap that has been planned for the local area.

The event will give people a chance to swap their old items for new, and all sizes can be dropped off, ranging from infant to plus size. Those who plan on bringing clothes to exchange are asked to make sure the pieces are not stained or ripped, and that they are also clean and washed. Further, they are reminded that underwear and socks will not be accepted.

The function has been planned for the cafeteria of Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate, which is located at 787 King Street West. The doors will open at 10:30 am, and will close at 1:30 pm the same day for the public, and donations can be dropped off starting at 10:00 am. There will be no charge to participate, and the planners of the activity noted that they hope to raise awareness about the large amount of unwanted textile that end up in the landfills each year. Brochures that explain more about an event like this and the reasons behind it can be prepared by a local printer.

The clothing swap will be held on May 27, and anyone who would like to learn more about it has been asked to visit the Trusted Clothes website.
