Windsor professionals who work in the healthcare field may wish to reserve a seat in a workshop that will offer them a chance to brush up on infection control techniques, both for themselves and any staff they manage.

Those who participate in the ‘Infection, Prevention and Control (IPAC) 101 in Community Health Settings’ workshop will learn what steps can be taken in the clinic, office or other setting they manage. It will also share tips they can use to convey the information they have learned to their staff through training and other methods.

The syllabus for the evening will cover topics sch as the safe handling and management of sharps, specimen handling and immunizations as well as practices for administering medications. Procedures and policies will also be discussed, as will equipment reprocessing and environmental cleaning. In addition to this, the students will learn what sorts of resources exist that can aid them in their infection control measures. Textbooks and other learning materials can be prepared for workshop like this by print shops in the local area.

The Ambassador Golf Club has been selected as the venue for the function, and it is being offered through the support of Public Health Ontario and IPAC SWO Chapter of IPAC Canada. The registration fee has been set at $50 per student, and it will begin at 5:30 pm on November 27.
