Hamilton Winterfest marks milestone year

January 5, 2018 by

The annual festival celebrating the beauty of winter in Hamilton will return this season for its 40th year.

Despite the snow and ice, Hamiltonians refuse to waste the season hibernating in their homes. A yearly tradition, the Winterfest celebration was created to encourage all local area residents to get out and discover everything the city has to offer.

Presented by the City of Hamilton, festival events will occur throughout the area, with participating partners that include art galleries and museums, recreation centres, neighbourhood associations and small businesses. Event partners will all have an easily identifiable Winterfest logo design displayed on their premises during the festival.

Winterfest events will focus on warmth, comfort, fire and light, emphasizing togetherness and sharing within the community. Explorers will enjoy art and heritage exhibits, special recreational programming and winter-themed neighborhood parties.

Winterfest partners are still needed, with applications available on the festival website. To be considered, businesses must offer a professionally operated winter-themed event that is either free or reasonably priced. The City of Hamilton will also be encouraging media coverage and promotion on social media sites, and promotional printing services may also give businesses a boost.

This year, the 17 days designated for having fun while touring the city are from Saturday, February 3 to Monday, February 19. A full event and partner listing is available on the event website.
