Gala celebrates the opening of a new library

October 27, 2018 by

The Lit Gala is taking place early next month in Calgary. The event is a fundraiser for the Calgary Public Library Foundation.

Guests will be celebrating the grand opening of the new central library while raising funds to help launch the Spotlight Speaker Series. There will be a variety of speakers, live musical performances, drinks and appetizers. Different, unique experiences will be available to ticket holders on each floor.

Among the speakers who will be appearing at the gala are architect Craig Dykers and Calgary musicians Tegan and Sara. The rest of the speakers and performers have yet to be announced.

Sponsorships are available for $8,000, which includes eight tickets to the gala. Sponsors will be recognized during the evening.

The library is also hosting an event the evening before the gala. Tickets are free if purchased in advance. Astronaut Chris Hadfield will be talking about his experiences on the International Space Station and his life before and after.

To advertise events like this in Calgary, stationery printers are often asked to supply printed invitations that will be mailed out.

The Lit Gala will be held at the New Central Library on November 2 from 7:30 to 11:55 PM. Tickets are $750 each.

Chris Hadfield will be speaking at the New Central Library on November 1 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
