Future babysitters sought in Stoney Creek

Babysitting can provide a way for a teen to earn some extra money, and an upcoming course near Stoney Creek will help to ensure they have the skills they need to be a success.

The Canadian Red Cross will be offering its babysitting course, which provides a full eight hours of practical, hands-on instruction. Those who participate will learn how to entertain children and prevent injuries, administer basic first aid and find out what to do in an emergency. They will also be given tips about how to make their babysitting business as successful as possible.

During the lunch break, pizza will be served to the students, and there will also be snacks throughout the day. Upon successful completion of the training, each participant will be given a course manual and a card that indicates that they have received the training. The lamination process can be utilized to protect cards like this and ensure they last.

The day has been planned so that it will combine learning with fun, and those who will be participating are asked to wear comfortable clothing and bring along a pen or pencil.

The babysitting course will be held on January 2 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm in the offices of the Canadian Red Cross, which are located at 400 King Street East in Hamilton. The fee to take part is $60, and more details are available on the Hamilton Spectator’s website.
