Edmonton set to celebrate Oktoberfest in high style

October 7, 2017 by

This fall, Edmontonians are invited to come to an event that will offer a taste of an authentic-style Oktoberfest without having to travel to Bavaria to do it.

The Edmonton Down Syndrome Society has issued an invitation to one and all attend its special autumn celebration. It will include a traditional tapping of the keg, as well as an assortment of German food for the guests to sample and enjoy. Attendees will be able to dance to a variety of Bavarian folk tunes, as well as enjoy hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s while they have fun with friends old and new. A photo booth will be on site to capture all of the excitement, and a silent auction that will feature a variety of different items to bid on is also on the agenda.

The ticket prices for the night start at $50 each, with a special discount being offered for those who will be purchasing a table of eight. The organizers noted that only a limited number of passes will be available, so they advise people to obtain theirs well ahead of time. Beer steins and other custom drinkware for a function like this can be sourced from an area printer.

This night of Bavarian-themed festivities has been planned for October 28 in the Woodvale Community League. More details can be found on the organizer’s website.
