Edmonton raises glass to whisky aficionados

An event is on the way for Edmonton that will put whisky front and centre, and the public is welcome to participate.

The Edmonton Whisky Festival is back for another year, and it will offer lovers of this spirit a chance to learn all about it, and sample some as well. A variety of experts will be on hand to discuss the different whiskies, how they are produced and what makes them different.

More than 175 varieties of this popular spirit will be on hand for sampling, and there will also be a silent auction where guests can bid on the whisky of their choice, as well as an assortment of whisky-themed items. Appetizers will be served to the crowd, and there will even be an opportunity for them to try the Scottish delicacy of haggis.

Each person who takes part in the festivities will receive a specially designed Glencairn glass to take home with them. Custom drinkware like this can be designed and then produced by a local printer. There will also be a Whisky Bottle Per Month for a Year raffle. The proceeds from the evening will be donated to the MS Society of Canada to help people living with multiple sclerosis and aid in the search for a cure.

The Edmonton Whisky Festival will be taking place on January 17 in the Delta Hotels by Marriott Edmonton South Conference Centre. More details can be found on the MS Society’s Facebook page.
