Discover new services during wellness week

Black Creek Community Health Centre (BCCHC) invites all locals to its facilities later this month, during the Community Health and Wellbeing Week.

New visitors to their local community health centre will be happily surprised by the number of services offered to them free of charge, including cooking and exercise classes. This year, October 16 to 22 has been designated as a time to share and discover the many benefits the BCCHC provides to the residents of the Downsview and the Jane and Finch communities.

BCCHC will be hosting several meet and greet events during the week, at their Sheridan Mall and Yorkgate Mall locations. During events like this, brochures and newsletters may be distributed, along with promotional products from various community sponsors and supporters of the clinics.

Both locations are staffed by professional healthcare providers, including doctors, nurses, counsellors and dietitians. Individual appointments are available, as well as group classes, all with the focus on keeping people physically fit and mentally well. The nonprofit centres also offer pharmacy services.

All services are provided free of charge, with funding coming from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, as well as the Central Local Health Integrated Network.

There are almost 100 Community Health Centres in Ontario, all aimed at overcoming the many obstacles residents face, including poverty and race barriers, language difficulties and issues with immigration status.

More information is available by calling 416-249-8000 or 416-246-2388, or on the clinic website.
