This year marks the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation, cities throughout the country will be holding special celebrations on July 1 to honor it and Delta is no different.

There are three official Canada Day events taking place in the city of Delta this year. The Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club will be hosting a family party at Diefenbaker Park from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There will be food like hot dogs and drinks that will be served by the Streetside Community Kitchen, birthday cake and an official ceremony. There will also be entertainment and face painting. Visit the Lions Club website for more information.

Kirkland House in Ladner will also be having a Canada Day celebration from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. It will feature musical entertainment from the Delta Police Pipe Band, children’s rides and games, food for purchase, displays of antique tractors and vehicles and spinning and weaving demonstrations. Call 604-946-5555 to learn more.

The final celebration of the day will be at Chalmers Park from 5:30 to 10:45 PM. There will be children’s activities, music, barbecue and other food vendors, an official ceremony, which will include the singing of the national anthem and a fireworks display.

Organizers will probably contact Delta print companies for help in advertising these events. With planning a family could manage to attend all of these events.
