Day of planting planned for Leduc

April 28, 2017 by

The city of Leduc will celebrate urban forests with a special event that invites local residents to explore the connection between humanity and the land.

Leduc will be hosting a Tree Canada event that will see trees planted in honor of the country’s 150 birthday. The celebration will include input from local First Nation’s community members, and according to the organizers, it will symbolize growth, sustainability, strength and peace. They have issued an invitation to everyone to attend the festivities, meet their neighbors and do a good turn for the earth. Wide format printing technology can be used by a print company to produce banners, signage, and other items for a function such as this using materials that are durable enough for use out of doors.

Funding for the project, in part, came from the Government of Canada. It also had the support of CN, Tree Canada, the City of Leduc, the provincial government and others. Those who come out are reminded to be ready to plant, and to wear clothing that will not be harmed if it gets dirty. They are also asked to bring along a shovel and drink.

This day of grassroots environmental action will take place on May 13 in Leduc’s Caledonia Park just west of Cody Boulevard. More information about the festivities can be found on the activity’s listing on Leduc’s website.
