Printed publication sells record-breaking numbers

September 30, 2012 by

It will be welcome news to printing companies throughout Canada, especially those in the Greater Toronto and Mississauga, that the latest edition of Elle in Quebec sold in excess of 100,000 copies last month.

It was recently revealed that TC Media, a division of Transcontinental Canada, sold a record 108,122 copies of its August 2012 edition of Elle. Substantiating what previous statistics have suggested, many readers simply prefer a printed copy of a magazine or brochure to an online or digital copy. TC Media also helps credit the record-breaking sales with an exclusive story on Veronique Cloutier and Louise Morissette. This resulted in so many printed sales that more copies were printed to keep up with demand. TC Media’s decision to double the usual number of printed issues to 95,400 was not enough, prompting another printing campaign.

While the editorial strategy was to copy it in video, email, web, and through social media, it is clear that the printed exclusive story far exceeded expectations, further proof that consumers pay attention to printed news.

This is excellent news for printers in the Mississauga and Toronto areas, cities that are chiefly involved in printing publications for large companies headquartered there or large Canadian and US audiences.

It is also excellent news for local and international Canadian printers who are involved in printed magazine or brochure printing advertisements often appearing in magazine page. The demand for hard copy publications continues to reach a large number of targeted audiences, continually creating a demand for advertising services.
