City of Surrey plans a day of family geocaching fun

Geocaching has become a popular pastime for many, and an upcoming Surrey event will make it fun for the whole family.

Partners in Parks has organized the event during which participants will use a list of specific coordinates for their GPS to find a cache of hidden treasures that will be located at the final point. Once they have competed the route, participants will be able to come together and socialize while they enjoy a hot chocolate and a chance to win a prize. A company that prints customized promotional products will be able to supply geocache coins and other “treasures”, as well as prizes that can be used during an event like this.

Two different locations will be set up in the city, and these include Bakerview Park and Hawthrone Park. People can choose either one or even both. Those who wish to take part are encouraged to do so as a family, and anyone under the age of 14 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. They are encouraged to come dressed for the weather conditions of the day, and must preregister if they plan on participating.

The Family Day Geocache Hunts will be held on February 11. More information, including times, locations and an opportunity to RSVP for one or both, can be found by visiting the City of Surrey website.
