Christmas will arrive early in Airdrie – right at the start of next month.

The celebrations will start off with the Santa Claus Parade, which will begin at Main Street and 6th Street and travel down to Ridgegate Way. The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Christmas and Winter Wonderland’. It will feature marching bands, floats and characters, with Santa Claus will bringing up the rear. Applications are still being accepted for floats; costs are $80 for commercial and $30 for nonprofit organizations.
This event will be held on Saturday, December 1 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.

The same day, the 23rd Airdrie Festival of Lights will kick off. The opening ceremonies will be held from 6:15 to 6:45 PM. The festival runs from December 1 to December 31 and attracts over 60,000 visitors each year.

People come to see the numerous light displays, which include a new one this year themed around the ‘12 Days of Christmas’. There are also appearances by Lumi the Lightbulb and other costumed characters, rides on the three miniature trains ($2 for those aged 3 and over), and visits with Santa. There is also Santa’s workshop which provided kids’ activities and shopping.Admission is free, and those interested can call 403-912-9627 to learn more.

Organizers for events like this often invest in banner printing services from Airdrie print shops to highlight certain areas.
