Christmas arrives in Halifax this month

November 6, 2018 by

The holiday celebrations will kick off in big style on the third Saturday of this month with the 23rd annual Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights.

The parade will start at Upper Water Street and will finish off at University Avenue and Robie Street. It is set to feature marching bands, dancers and floats. Of course, the most important part of the parade will be the arrival of Santa Claus.

Taking place the same day will be the 4th annual Red Nose Run, which is a fundraiser for the QEII Foundation. It is a 2.5K run and costs $35 to participate. Runners will receive a race bib, a blinking red nose, and a medal. Participants are encouraged to dress up in holiday costumes.

Later on in the month, the Christmas tree lighting is set to take place. It will feature entertainment from the Christina Martin Band, the Bob the Builder Live Show, and PAW Patrol Chase. There will also be an appearance by Santa Claus and a fireworks display.

To help advertise upcoming events, Halifax stationery printers are often asked to provide materials such as flyers.

The Holiday Parade of Lights will be held on November 17 beginning at 6:00 PM, and the Christmas tree lighting will take place at the Grand Parade on November 24 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. For more information, call 902-490-6776.
