Chilliwack fundraiser planned in honour of mom’s special day

March 3, 2018 by

This Mother’s Day weekend, Chilliwack residents will be able to honour their mom by helping to raise funds for a local health care facility.

The Run for Mom will see people from all walks of life taking to the pavement as part of this Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation’s fundraiser. The monies that they collectively raise will be used to help meet the expenses of an assortment of programming that benefits women and children in the local community.

Since its inception in 2000, this event has been able to raise over $420,000. This year, the proceeds are earmarked to assist with the purchase of a CT scanner and along with an infant vital monitor. Those who would like to lend a hand can choose between the 5k or 1k kids’ fun run. Participants will be able to walk or run, and those who need a wheelchair or other assistive device will be welcome to roll their way along the route. Anyone who can’t participate in person can still help by making a donation or acting as a sponsor. A local print company will be able to provide everything from banners to race bibs that can help to ensure that this type of an occasion is a success.

Chilliwack’s Canada Education Park will serve as the location for this fundraiser, which will be held on May 12th. Additional information can be found on the Run for Mom listing on the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation’s website.
