Childhood Arthritis Family Day on the way for Saskatoon

December 27, 2017 by

Arthritis and related illnesses can strike people of any age, and a special day has been planned in Saskatoon for families with a child living with one of these conditions.

Kids with arthritis, as well as their parents and siblings, are invited to participate in an event that will include opportunities for both learning and fun outside of a medical setting. Parents can learn more about the newest research into juvenile arthritis, and there will also be details shared about both the current treatment methods and those that are on the horizon. It will also give them a chance to meet others who know what they are gong through.

Kids who are between 2 and 17 years of age will be able to spend time having fun with friends without having to worry about the limitations that arthritis can often bring. A variety of activities are on the agenda for the day, and the organizers have planned for it to be a day of fun, especially for the children.

A pediatric rheumatologist will be on hand along with other health care professionals to share advice about a variety of topics, including nutrition, medications and other forms of pain management, lifestyle choices, exercise and also the emotional aspects of juvenile arthritis. Pop up banners can be crafted for use during this type of event by a local printer.

Childhood Arthritis Family Day has been set for March 17 in Saskatoon at a location that will be determined as the date draws closer. Anyone who would like to find out more has been asked to contact tlansdell@arthritis.ca or call 306 244 0045.
