Catch Calgary Artists At Absolute Art

April 28, 2012 by

Absolute Art, the annual art show and sale of the Federation of Canadian Artists Calgary Chapter will take place at Haysboro Community Centre on May 12th from 10 am-4 pm. Admission is free, which gives anybody with an interest in art to see what the next generation of artists have to offer, and a chance to invest what may be considered a future collectible or masterpiece.

This is a juried show and it is open to active and signature members of the Foundation. Submissions must be sent digitally; each submission must be sent separately and costs $5 each. The submissions must be in jpeg format, of good quality and original works by the artist. The winning pieces will be published in Art Avenue magazine. The selected artists must agree to attend the show.

The Federation of Canadian Artists Calgary chapter is dedicated to showcasing art in various media by profession and semi-professional artists from the Calgary area. Membership in the Federation allows artists to exhibit at various shows throughout Calgary, many of those shows are juried and award cash prizes. Membership costs $30 a year and there are four categories: supporting, active, associate and senior.

The Federation of Canadian Artists does much to help promote artists who may not have had the chance to attend art school, or taken up art a little later in life. It can do much to help an artist develop, and along with the artist commissioning some copies of their work from a poster printing specialist, can help in finding a wider audience.
