Calgary invited to bowl for a cause

February 2, 2017 by

Individuals, groups and businesses from across Calgary are being asked to mark their calendars for an bowling event that combines fun with raising money for a cause.

The community service organization Between Friends is hosting the event as one of its major fundraisers. Those who wish to lend a hand are asked to form teams of four or five, and each one will be paired with a Between Friends bowler. They are encouraged to come up with a creative name, and arrive dressed in themed costumes.

Prizes will be awarded for the highest score, the best costume and best team name, among other categories. There will also be a registration dinner and wrap up party. Customized business forms and other documents that can help to ensure an event like this goes smoothly can be provided to its organizers by a printer.

Each team is asked to make a commitment to raise at least $1,000. Between Friends is a group that works with both children and adults in the local community who have a disability. According to the organization, the monies collected will be used to help support sending its younger members to summer camp, and its older ones on outings through its Excursions program.

The Friends in Motion Bowl-a-Thon has been planned for March 3 at Century Bowling. Those who wish to register or find out more can do so through the Between Friends website.
