Calgary celebrates Canada’s birthday with parties

June 27, 2018 by

There are several events taking place in Calgary this year to celebrate the country’s 151st birthday on July 1.

One such event will be held in nearby Chestermere. The Celebrate Canada Day at the Lake festival will offer a free pancake breakfast, musical entertainment and dancing, and bunny races. There will also be a library book sale, food truck and a trading post.

The Taste of Chestermere will offer a variety of foods from local restaurants and caterers. There will also be lots of birthday cake to go around.

Families can participate in a Tug of War Challenge, play old-fashioned games, and enjoy wagon rides. The evening will finish off with a fireworks display over the lake.

Another celebration taking place will be the 5th annual Canada Day Block Party. It will have music from artists such as Justin Martin and Miss Hazard, a beer garden, and food trucks. There will also be children’s activities such as crafts and jujitsu demonstrations.

It is likely that a Calgary flyer printing was asked to provide advertising materials to help spread the word about both of these events.

Celebrate Canada Day at the Lake will be held at John Peake Park. Call 403-207-7050 to learn more.

The Canada Day Block Party will take place at the Max Bell Centre from 2:00 to 11:00 PM. Visit the official event Facebook page for current information.
