Burnaby residents asked to lend hospice a helping hand

April 3, 2017 by

Hospices provide care and compassion to both those at the end of life and their families, and people from Burnaby will be joining others all across the country who will be showing their support for these facilities.

In Burnaby, walkers will be gathering in Central Park in an activity that will raise funds for the Burnaby Hospice Society. Those of all ability levels are invited to lace up their sneakers to run, roll or walk along with their friends and neighbors. It will be held rain or shine, and once the walk is over, there will be a barbecue as well as entertainment, a silent auction and a prize draw. Wide format printing can be used to create banners and other items for an event such as this.

Monies raised through the event will remain in the local area and be used to support hospice initiatives such as palliative care, volunteer training, community outreach, respite support for families and more. According to the organizers, each year, the group meets the needs of more than 900 families, and their services are offered free of charge, thanks in part, through funding raised through events like the Hospice Hike.

This fundraising activity will take place on May 7th in Central Park. Additional details, a schedule for the day and an opportunity to register can be found on the Hospice Society’s website.
