Afternoon awards to make a healthy impact

As part of the BC celebration of Small Business Week, the Surrey Board of Trade are presenting the Health Workplace Award to one local businesses or organization. The award presentation and luncheon will take place at the Eaglequest Golf Course on October 23.

The Healthy Workplace Award is voted on by the public, as well as local business professionals in Surrey. There are nine areas in which they are judged: senior management, working conditions, health services, health and safety, industrial hygiene, human resources, healthy workplace and wellness committees, quality, and management. It is not necessary for a business to have all of the above to win but it is definitely suggested.

Past winners of the award have included the South Fraser Community Services Society. Since people spend a lot of their time at the workplace, it is important that those places are healthy. This is not only beneficial for employee morale, it is also good for the bottom line, as healthier employees lose fewer days and tend to work harder.

This will also be an excellent networking event for Surrey businesspeople. No doubt many of those attending will be arranging for business card printing services from their local printing company. They will want to ensure that they have enough cards to hand out to everyone with whom they about their business.

Being held from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm, tickets are priced at $35 for Board of Trade members and $55 for non-members. For more information, contact the Surrey Board of Trade.
