Abbotsford celebrates berries with annual festival

The 37th annual Abbotsford BerryFest is taking place next month, presented in part by the Downtown Abbotsford Business Association.

The festival is set to celebrate all berries and several organizations will be on hand to promote them. These include the BC Strawberry Growers Association, the BC Blueberry Council, and the Raspberry Industry Development Council.

There will be lots of activities going on during the event that will be sure to please people of all ages and interests. A midway will offer rides such as the Ferris Wheel and the Berry-go-round, games and musical performances. Children’s activities will include face painting, a petting zoo, balloon twisting and mini-golf. Among the musical entertainers appearing this year will be Steve “Elvis” Elliott, Big City Soul and the Fab Fourever Beatles tribute band.

A variety of vendors will be on hand to sell arts and crafts and berry-related products. There will also be a craft beer and wine garden, food trucks and lots of berry treats to enjoy. In addition, there will be a Berry Bake Off and a berry gardening demonstration by Brian Minter.
