June 29, 2018 by

The Canada Day 2018 Kanata Festival is taking place at various venues in Newmarket. A free shuttle bus will be provided between places.

The day will start off with a pancake breakfast at the Community Centre and Lions Hall from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon. It will be hosted by the Newmarket Car Club and tickets are $4 each.

The main event of the day will be taking place at Riverwalk Commons, and will feature family activities, music and plenty of food. The Tim Horton’s Family Zone is set to have inflatables, a rock wall and a water feature. There will also be a photo booth. Families can take the Tim Horton’s Express Train, and listen to music from DJ Tyler Stevenson, Taxi, George St. Kitts and other performers. They may wish to try their skill at line dancing.

Other events include a motocross show with Waznie Racing, a military re-enactment and a baseball game.

The last event will be the fireworks display at George Richardson Park from 7:30 to 10:30 PM. It will feature performances by the Newmarket Citizen’s Band and Switch Beat. The fireworks will begin after dark.
