Awards show returns to showcase Canadian musicians

The East Coast Music Awards festival is taking place next month in Halifax over five days. It is a celebration of Canadian East Coast musicians.

There are a variety of events taking place at various venues in the city. The first of them will be the 30th-anniversary kick-off concert on May 2 from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. This free event will be held at Foundation Place and will feature such acts as Port Cities and Ashley MacIsaac.

The next day, the awards will be held at Scotiabank Center from 8:00 to 10:00 PM. Tickets are $40 each. Among those who will be appearing will be the Barra MacNeils and Meash Brueggergosman.

Other events include the Socan Songwriter’s Circle at Casino Royal on May 6. It will be hosted by Alan Doyle and feature Rose Cousins and Jenn Grant among others. Tickets are $40. There will also be several Export Buyer’s Showcases, either roots or electric. In addition, there will be various stages set up throughout the city.

This is a popular event in the Halifax area and will no doubt sell out. Organizers may invest in poster printing services to help spread the word.
