Calgary program to provide therapy through music

December 7, 2017 by

Music therapy can often prove to be successful in children who have a physical, cognitive or developmental delay, and Calgary parents are invited to register their child to participate.

The Musical Therapy for Toddlers With Disabilities program will foster development in a variety of areas. The children who participate will have an opportunity to improve their speech and also their social skills, and along with this, they will also be encouraged to explore movement through dance.

Each of the sessions will be planned to meet the needs of the individual children who will be in the group. The boys and girls can try their hand at playing an instrument, and any who wish to sing will be encouraged to do so. The facilitators will engage each of the senses through the different activities the kids will engage in, and they will also have an opportunity to socialize with one another in a calm environment. A printing company can use binding techniques to create manuals and other materials for the attendees in a program like this so they can continue to learn while they are at home.

The registration fee for this 12-week-long series, which is being planned by JB Music Therapy, is $179 per child. It is set to begin on January 10, 2018, and anyone who is interested in finding out more has been invited to contact the organizer through its Facebook page.
