Santa returns to Woodstock this month

The Woodstock Santa Claus Parade is taking place later this month, presented by the Downtown Woodstock Business Improvement Area.

The parade will start at the Woodstock Fairgrounds and travel west along Dundas Street. This is a nighttime event, so all of the floats will be illuminated. There will likely be marching bands, Girl Guides and Boy Scout groups, clowns and, of course, Santa Claus will bring up the rear.

Registration for floats was open to local businesses and community groups and organizations until last week, who paid a small fee of $50 for business and $25 for community groups.

In addition to marchers, there will be performances by several groups and artists, which will include the Salvation Army Band, Blind Dog Joe, the Burlington Teen Tour Band and the Golden Harps Steel Drum Orchestra.

Those planning to attend the parade are asked to bring cash donations for the parade, and food and unwrapped toys for the Salvation Army. Children can also drop off their letters to Santa.

This popular evening event is sure to attract lots of families to downtown Woodstock. To help advertise, organizers of this sort of event often invest in flyers.

The Santa Claus Parade will be held on this Saturday, November 18 beginning at 6:00 PM. For the most current information about this event, contact the Downtown Woodstock BIA at 519-537-5721.
