The 26th annual Regina Dragon Boat Festival is taking place in Regina over two days next month.

The competition is open to members of Dragon Boat Canada, and teams have until this Sunday, August 13, to sign up. Fees are $1,100 for an adult team, $400 for a junior team, and $750 for out-of-town or open division teams. Teams can have no more than 30 members, with a maximum of 26 who can take part in each race.

The opening ceremony, Awakening the Dragon, will be hosted on September 1 and will feature the Dragon Dance and a tai chi demonstration. This will be followed by 200m sprint races and the Friday Night Cabaret, which will feature a DJ.

The next day will be filled with cultural performances, entertainment in the Dragon’s Lair Beer Tent, and plenty of activities for the children in the Dragon’s Nest. The day will start off with a pancake breakfast hosted by Scouts Canada, for which tickets are $5 each. There will also be a Dragon Boat Cabaret with adult games such as beer paddle races, balloon pop, and flippy cup.

Regina stationery printing companies often provide the number bibs and other printed materials necessary for dragon boat racing competitions.

The Regina Dragon Boat Festival will be held at Wascana Park from September 1 to 2. Visit the official event website for the latest information.
